Swiss chard with garlic and extra virgin olive oil

Sometimes you see a lovely looking vegetable in the supermarket and wonder which is the best way to cook it. This is a super simple recipe, made with garlic and olive oil!

Miraculous ingredients: Swiss chard, extra virgin olive oil

Swiss chard with garlic and extra virgin olive oil

Ingredients

200g Swiss chard

2 garlic cloves, finely chopped

2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

2 tablespoons water

Sea salt

Method Place a medium size frying pan (which has a lid) on a low heat to warm while you prepare the ingredients.

Cut the stalks off the Swiss Chard and then cut the stalks in half. Wash the leaves and chop them into thirds so the pieces are still quite large.

Add the olive oil to the warm pan, increase the heat to medium and add the chopped garlic. Fry for 30 seconds and then add the stalks and water. Cook the stalks for about 5 minutes until they are beginning to get soft.

Add the leaves to the pan, a little salt and cover with a lid. Add a little more water if the pan is dry. Steam for 3 minutes until the stalks and leaves are soft enough to eat.

Drain off any excess water, place the swiss chard on a plate and drizzle a little extra virgin olive oil all over.

Preparation time 5 minutes, cooking 10 minutes, 2 adult portions, 2 children portions as a side dish
